The former University of Florida football player married his college sweetheart, had three kids and a career as a successful investment banker. At the age of forty in the prime of his life Perry couldn't have asked for more. But after enjoying dinner with some friends this past March 15th he went to bed and in the middle of the night he died. "I saw him die,” said his wife Nicky. “I saw him take that last breath where his whole body deflated and the breath sounded....I can't even explain it." Experts believe Perry experienced sudden death by cardiac arrest; something that mysteriously attacks otherwise healthy middle aged men.

Essentially his heart slipped into a bad rhythm and never snapped out of it.
Perry’s wife said that on that horrible night, the first paramedic who came into the room said ‘oh, he's gone." Perry’s brain was starved for oxygen for seven minutes. Later an MRI showed nothing but white; an indication there was no activity in his brain cells.  The doctor told Perry’s wife to consider pulling the plug on he husband’s life support.

They said he’d be in a vegetative sate forever.  But Nicky refused to give up and gave the doctor a very simple answer. "At that point, I was kind of over that neurologist,” Nicky said. “So we fired him and got another neurologist."
